This is a chronic skin condition seen as brown pigmentation on sun-exposed areas of skin. The most important factors in the development of facial pigmentation of this kind include genetic predisposition, incorrect product use (or application), and hormonal treatments. However, the most important cause of worsening in most cases of pigmentation is sun exposure.
We plan the treatment based on the patient's age, skin colour, how long the pigmentation has been present, medications being used, existing conditions, and the type and extent of the pigmentation. In other words, treatment is tailored to each individual patient. For this reason, anyone with a pigmentation problem should first be examined. Pigmentation can recur after treatment. For this reason, follow-up and protective measures are important. The thing we recommend most to our patients, whether they have treatment or not, is sun protection.
