Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is a condition of excessive sweating that occurs independently of activity and environmental factors. It can be localised to a specific area or generalised. When it's generalised, conditions such as diabetes, medication use, infections or certain neurological conditions should be reviewed before it's defined as a personal or genetic trait. Localised excessive sweating, occurring in a specific area, is most often associated with genetic predisposition. It can be seen in the armpits, hands and feet, groin, face and scalp. Treatment can involve topical creams, botulinum toxin, iontophoresis or surgical treatments.
