Mesotherapy is a treatment method first practised by the French doctor Dr Michel Pistor. Relevant medications and active substances are injected into the area of need. Different names can be used depending on the area of application and the goal. For example, when applied to the scalp it may be called “hair mesotherapy”, for fat reduction it's called “lipolytic mesotherapy”, for cellulite treatment it's called “cellulite mesotherapy”, or when used on the face to increase collagen, support renewal and boost hydration, it may be called “facial mesotherapy” or a “youth injection”. Besides all of these, mesotherapy is also applied for many other indications, such as scars, sports injuries, or delivering various medications beneath the skin.
Why mesotherapy?
Sometimes, treatments given orally or intravenously don't reach the target organ in a sufficient amount to be effective. Part of the medication is quickly broken down and eliminated from the body. There's also a risk of side effects on other organs. In mesotherapy, a high localised effect is achieved with low-dose ingredients. In this process, the patient is also protected from systemic side effects.
