A skin tag, also known as a fibroepithelial polyp or acrochordon, is commonly referred to as a ‘flesh mole’. It's usually seen in fold areas such as around the neck, the armpits, the groin and around the eyes. It's seen more often in people with obesity and diabetes. It isn't dangerous, but can sometimes become irritated while drying off or getting dressed, or can catch on accessories such as necklaces and bags.
Depending on the number and size of lesions and the patient's skin colour, treatment can involve cryotherapy, electrocautery, plasma energy cauterisation or lasers. If there are a large number, I prefer to remove them gradually over more than one session.
