Pigmentation Treatment

There are many types of pigmentation we can develop. Sun spots, pregnancy-related pigmentation, birthmarks, freckles and age spots are some examples. The treatment approach is different for each of these.

When a patient comes to us with pigmentation, we first ask about any other medications or treatments they are taking. The skin's pigmentation characteristics, skin colour and the patient's age can also affect the choice of treatment.

Treatment options

Pigmentation treatment is one of the areas with the most misinformation, and you can find a huge number of creams and methods related to pigmentation on the market. In treating pigmentation, once the type and severity of the pigmentation has been determined, at-home treatments, professional brightening peels, enzymatic peels (also known as overnight masks), Dermapen and laser and light systems can be used.

I generally combine at-home treatments with peels or pigment-brightening mesotherapy that I apply in the clinic. Sometimes, particularly for patients who also have underlying blood vessel visibility, I can add light and laser systems too.
